How do I request a custom design?
To get started, simply send us a message directly through our contact form above. Let us know your initial ideas, colour preferences, any inspiration photos, or specific shapes you’d like to incorporate into your custom piece.
Can I provide my own design for custom jewellery?
Of course! We welcome your sketches and ideas. Our usual approach is to take the distinct Banana & Clay aesthetic and existing design styles and build out your custom concept from there. Feel free to share any patterns, mood boards, or shapes you love, and we’ll work closely with you to make it a reality.
What is the process for creating bespoke clay jewellery?
The process typically involves a consultation, design development, creation, and finalisation. Once we agree on a design concept and colour palette, the clay is mixed and baked. Because clay allows for precise hand-mixing, we can share colour swatch photos with you before the final bake. Please note that once the clay is baked, major structural changes or full re-makes due to a change of mind may incur an additional material/labor fee.
How long does it take to receive custom clay jewellery?
The timeframe varies depending on our current order volume and the complexity of your design. On average, custom commissions take about 2 to 3 weeks to design, cure, assemble, and dispatch. If you need your pieces rushed for a special event or holiday gift, please let us know during your initial message, and we will do our best to accommodate you!
Are custom designs more expensive than regular items in the shop?
We strive to keep our custom pricing very close to the prices of our ready-to-wear pieces online. However, the final price depends on factors like the complexity of the design, custom color mixing time, and any premium metal findings (like sterling silver or gold-filled components) requested. We will always provide you with a clear quote before you purchase.
Can I make changes to the design after it's been finalised?
We understand that preferences can shift, so we are happy to accommodate minor revisions to colors or layouts before the clay goes into the oven. Once the pieces are baked and cured, significant changes or starting over will impact the completion timeline and may incur an additional charge.
